The exceptional fusion of medicine, physics, technology and basic sciences makes Medical Physics one of the most fascinating sub-specialties of physical sciences. This web site is dedicated to sharing and promoting innovative medical physics and dosimetry research directly applicable to the understanding, prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and its main target audience is medical physicists and dosimetrists.
The current and near future job markets for a medical physicist are excellent. Employment is possible in institutions such as hospitals, cancer centers, nuclear power plants, radiopharmaceutical production facilities, the academia and many more.
In addition, several years of clinical practicum are also required (medical physics residency program under the supervision of a Certified Medical Radiation Physicist) following which certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or Medical Physics, or by the American Board of Medical Physicist (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics.
